Are you a fellow metabophile?

We’re looking for people who are obsessed with all things metabolism/metabolomics/mass spectrometry. The Patti Lab is currently hiring at all levels.

Graduate Students

Interested graduate students should apply through the Department of Chemistry or the Division of Biology & Biomedical Sciences at Washington University.

Positions Available

Staff Scientists

We are searching for Ph.D. scientists with experience in metabolism, metabolomics, proteomics, and/or mass spectrometry. Successful applicants will mentor trainees and assume a leadership role within the group. Beyond conducting independent research projects, responsibilities include establishing standard-operating protocols for the laboratory and participating in NIH consortia on behalf of the group.

Mass Spectrometry Technologist/Research Associate

We have an opening for a motivated individual who is enthusiastic about working with liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry systems. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, troubleshooting technical difficulties with mass spectrometers, working with graduate students and collaborators, and implementing standard-operating procedures. A willingness to be hands-on and take apart instruments for maintenance and optimization is required. Mass spectrometry experience is a plus, but not required. We are considering applicants at all levels.

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

We are searching for Ph.D. or M.D. scientists whose research interests align with one or more foci of the Patti Lab

Postdoc in Cancer Metabolism

We seek scientists who are enthusiastic to work closely with a multidisciplinary team at the Siteman Cancer Center to understand the impact of tumorigenesis on metabolism and to explore therapeutic/dietary interventions. The research will involve: (i) working with mice and/or zebrafish; (ii) applying basic molecular biology techniques; (iii) performing mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and isotope-tracer analysis; and (iv) interpreting data in the context of metabolism and physiology. Expertise in all areas is not a prerequisite for the position.

Agilent-Merck Postdoctoral Fellowship

These positions offer a unique opportunity for trainees to receive joint mentoring from scientists at Washington University, Agilent Technologies, and Merck. Postdocs will gain expertise in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics, computational biology, model animal work, and other biochemical techniques related to drug discovery/development. Projects will focus on biopharmaceutical collaborations between Merck and the Patti lab. Interested candidates may read more here

Laboratory Manager

We are looking for a scientist who has completed an undergraduate or master’s degree in biology, chemistry, physics, or the equivalent. Successful candidates will be involved in multiple research projects in the laboratory, and will also serve as a laboratory manager. In addition to participating in basic research projects, responsibilities include organizing laboratory equipment, inventorying supplies, scheduling instrument repairs, and coordinating group activities.

Postdoc in Multi-Omics Research

We are searching for scientists to contribute to our Multi-Omics Production Center. Successful candidates should be willing to participate in NIH consortia on behalf of the group and have prior experience in one or more of the following research areas: metabolomics, lipidomics, exposomics, proteomics, or computational systems biology. The research will involve collection and integration of whole genome sequencing, whole genome bisulfite sequencing, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics data from the same set of samples. Projects will require close collaborations with the McDonnel Genome Institute at Washington University and NIH Disease Study Sites.
